Here's a gorgeous, near-new and all-original 2026 Prairie steam locomotive with a 6466WX whistling tender from the early part of 1949. This steam locomotive and tender combination is the early variation with the 2-6-2 wheel arrangement and nickel-rimmed drive wheels on the steamer plus the slightly upgraded tender with the additional railing on the rear deck.
Both the steam locomotive and whistling tender have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operate perfectly. The e-unit cycles properly, the smoke unit operates perfectly, the front headlight does illuminate and the tender whistle is loud and strong. The exterior colors are stunning plus the side lettering and numbers are bold and bright. Lastly, the drive rods are original parts and free of tarnishing and discoloration. Lastly, the tender shell is an original shell and neither the tender nor steamer show any signs of rust nor oxidation.
Finally, there are many extras included in this sale, which includes:
- 2026 Steam Locomotive Early Classic, Three Cities box and insert. The box has both end and tuck flaps and three of the four interior flaps -- plus there is clear tape on the interior of most flaps. Condition of the box is a 7.
- 6466WX Whistling Tender Early Classic, Three Cities box and insert. The box is nice and solid, has both end and tuck flaps and all four interior flaps. Condition of the box is an 8 to 8+.
- Paperwork:
- Original and correct instructions for the 2026 steamer (dated January 1949).
- Two original factory inspection tags.
- Factory wrapping paper for the steam locomotive and tender.
- Lastly, original smoke pellet (about 1/2 full), a wooden tamper and tube of lubricant are included.
This locomotive and tender are truly a gem -- it will be hard to find a nicer early 2026 locomotive with a tender just as nice as the steamer!
