Here's a beautiful flatcar with a complete and all-original airplane from 1957. The freight car has the more sought after (and correct) 1957 version of the 6424-11 flatcar with the number to the right of Lionel printing as well as bar-end trucks clipped to the blackened stamped steel truck-mounting plates. The plane is the less common darker yellow fuselage with black top. Additionally, the freight car comes with a nice original instruction sheet and a reproduction 6418-9 elastic band.
The flatcar has vibrant colors, crisp side lettering and has few signs of aging or use. The wheels, trucks, and couplers are nice and clean with minimal signs of usage. Additionally, the metal parts are in similar condition to the flatcar and the couplers work perfectly. Lastly, the flatcar surface is super clean, not even showing scratches from the plane being stored on it and the white heat-stamped lettering is bold, crisp, clear and complete.
The original box is as solid as a brick with great colors, printing and graphics. There are 7 3/4 flaps present, missing only a portion of one coupler flap plus one end flap has tape on the inside. The box also has the very attractive red-orange color found on several Late Classic boxes from the 1957 era.
