Up for sale is a beautiful and all-original 736 Berkshire with a 2046W Lionel Lines whistling tender. This combination of the steamer and tender have 1957 / 1958 production characteristics such as the single screw holding the center rail pick up component to the stream locomotive, rounded flagstaff posts, plastic side frames on the steamers trailing truck and a tab coupler on the rear of the tender.

Below is a summary of the condition of each item:

  • The steamer has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and all functionality works properly including the e-unit, smoke unit and a functional headlight. The exterior colors are gorgeous, the cab numbers are crisp and complete plus the side drive rods, trucks, frame and wheels are all clean and free of rust and oxidation but there is some light or minor aging / tarnishing on a couple of the drive rods. Lastly, nothing is chipped, damaged nor broken. Condition of the steamer is a 7++ to an 8 -- it looks fantastic!
  • The tender has an original postwar shell and frame plus the whistle has been serviced, tested, rewired and sounds great. The frame, wheels and trucks are clean and free of rust and oxidation. Additionally, all corner steps are complete and not cracked nor repaired. The only apology is a small melt area on the left lower rim of the shell -- as seen in the 7th and 8th photo above. Overall condition of the tender is a 7, but excluding the melt mark -- the rest of the tender is closer to a 7++.
