Now available for sale is an absolutely beautiful Great Northern EP-5 locomotive and its original box. This electric diesel has gorgeous exterior colors with clean, crisp side side lettering and original nose decals on each end! The interior is as clean as the exterior, there is no rust nor oxidation, all metal components are factory fresh plus the pantographs are as clean as the locomotive. Lastly, the diesel has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and is fully functional -- including the horn which was battery tested and operates just as designed by Lionel. Overall, a beautiful locomotive that would look perfect on a layout or in a display case.
The oddity regarding this diesel is the side lettering. According to popular reference books, the 2358 should have heat stamped lettering. This diesel has slightly raised lettering on each side. However, the rest of the shell appears to be an original postwar painted shell, has the typical paint wear along a few of the raised mold lines plus the end decals are original postwar decals.
Lastly, the original box is also included. The box is complete with all internal and external flaps as well as the front perforated box panel. The box is solid, has nice printing on each end flap but there is some oil staining on the bottom section -- as seen in one of the photos above.
