Up for sale is a stunning, near new and all-original postwar K-4 Pacific steam locomotive and tender from the final year of K-4 production: 1952. Both of these very low mileage units have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and all functionality works exactly as designed by Lionel -- plus the smoke unit puffs like a chimney! There is no damage to either item, the exterior colors are side lettering are vibrant plus there's not a spot of rust nor oxidation on either item. Additionally, the tender shell is complete and not nicked, chipped nor cracked and the steamer boiler front is an original 1952 item with the marker lights still attached to the front.
Also included are original boxes for each item, but they have not held up as well as their components (but the good news is they did protect the trains as designed!). Both boxes are complete with all internal and external flaps, but as seen above, there is tape on the exterior of the steamer box and the tender box has a 3" tear on one of the short sides of the box. The steamer box includes a complete and solid original insert and the tender box has a reproduction insert. Lastly, original instructions numbered 2025-5 and dated 1952 are included as is an original box of smoke pellets (about half full) and a wooden smoke pellet tamper.
These units are a great representation of how a brand new 2025 & 6466W steamer and tender combination would have looked in 1952.
