Now available for sale is a beautiful Erie four car diesel freight set from 1952. This set has been well cared for over the years and shows less than average usage. Additionally, the set includes many extras generally missing from boxed sets. As you review the 33 photos, you'll notice all of the items are clean, have 1952 production characteristics as well as properly dated instruction sheets.
Regarding the condition of the freight cars and Alco AA diesels, everything is clean, complete, free of rust and oxidation and graded at an 8 or better. The exterior paint on each train is vibrant, the side lettering is crisp and the numbers and graphics are clean and complete. Also, nothing is nicked, chipped nor cracked on any of the trains plus all boxes are the correct Middle Classic variation for this set.
All of the trains in this set have been cleaned, tested, serviced and the diesel runs flawlessly. Included in this set are the following:
- 2032 Erie Alco AA diesels. Both items are beautiful, graded an 8 and their original box is solid. The box includes all interior and exterior flaps as well as two of the three original inserts.
- 6456 Lehigh Valley Hopper: nice and clean, bar-end trucks, no exterior nicks, marks nor blemishes and includes a decent looking box, but unfortunately is missing all flaps on one end.
- 6465 Sunoco Tank Car: beautiful silver exterior, bar-end trucks, no rust nor blemishes on the tank car and free of rust and oxidation. Includes a solid original box complete with all interior and exterior flaps.
- 6656 Stock Car: gorgeous exterior color with nice lettering, bar-end trucks, no nicks, marks nor blemishes and includes a nice original box. The both has both end flaps, both tuck flaps and three of the four inner flaps.
- 6357 Lionel Caboose: No damage nor rust, interior light does illuminate plus the box is solid. The caboose is the only freight car to have staple-end trucks -- which could indicate a 1951 leftover production item or the caboose was switched at some point over the past 70+ years. The box includes both end and tuck flaps, all four inner flaps but is missing the coupler flap.
- 1033 90-Watt Transformer: condition 8, tested and fully functional, has a new line cord plus a solid and complete original box.
- 6019 Remote Control Track: condition 8 with a replacement cord, has been tested and works perfectly. Also includes a decent original box with all internal and external flaps, but the box is a bit soft.
- Set Box: Nice and clean box, complete with all flaps, clean printing on the exterior but the box seam (as seen in one photo above) has split. Also, the bottom of the box has the original shipping label from Sear Roebuck to Marvin in Edwall, Washington.
- All other extras:
- 1952 Instructions for Assembly & Operating Lionel Trains
- Lionel Service Station Listing for 1952 / 1953
- Complete set of 1952 billboards
- Instructions for the 6019 remote control track and the 1033 transformer.
- Original 027 track (eight curve, 5 straight) are included as well as a 6019 remote control track.
- Tube of Lionel lubricant
- Original EverReady battery -- that has not exploded!
