Up for sale is a gorgeous, early MPC Illinois Central GP-9 diesel. This road switcher was manufactured for two years, but this particular locomotive is from 1970 as it has the thicker hand railing posts as well as numbers printed into the number boards on each end.
Externally, this diesel is pristine as the colors are vibrant and the side lettering and graphics are in perfect condition. Internally, the frame, motor and trucks are as clean as the exterior. The motor has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and it runs like a champ. Lastly, the lights work properly and the couplers are fully functional.
Also included with the diesel are clean and complete original instructions as well as an original MPC era warranty card. Lastly, the original box is as solid as a brick, includes all internal and external flaps and is the rare label variation with the wording "pulls more than 25 cars" -- that was quickly removed from the label by mid-1970!
