Up for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, all original turbine with the premium twelve wheel 2671WX whistling tender combination. This turbine and tender was purchased from the son of the original owner and is a very low mileage unit -- and has been carefully stored over the prior 70+ years!
This particular turbine and tender have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and are ready to run on your layout or be displayed in your collection. The exterior paint on the turbine are beautiful and vibrant plus the side lettering is crisp, complete and not faded nor worn. Lastly, there is no rust nor oxidation on either item and all functionality operates properly such as the headlight, magnetraction, e-unit, smoke unit and whistle.
Also included with this set are several nice extras items generally not included with postwar locomotives. They include original instructions (properly dated February 1950), smoke pellets (about 2/3 full), tube of lubricant (about 1/2 full), an original wooden tamper -- plus the correct early version Lionel wrapping paper for both the turbine and tender! Even the boxes are in nice condition with vibrant exterior colors. The turbine box is graded a 6+ to 7 as it is missing three of the four interior flaps as well as one tuck flap but it does include a complete original insert. The tender box is in nicer condition and graded at an 8 as it includes all interior and exterior flaps as well as a solid and complete original insert.
