Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 6562-25 New York Central gondola with canisters from 1956!
Now available for sale is a gorgeous and brand new 6562-25 red New York Central gondola with canisters and its original box. According to the prior owner, this flatcar was purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. However, there is no paperwork supporting this history, although the external condition is consistent with many items sold from the Michigan location; unrun, minor surface marks and simply in fantastic condition.
This freight car has a beautiful exterior with vibrant colors, clean side lettering plus four original canisters and a box. The freight car is in perfect condition with nothing nicked, chipped nor damaged plus the trucks, coupler and wheels are free of rust and oxidation and show no signs of ever being on the track. Additionally, the canisters are nice and clean, free of damage and have crisp and clean side lettering. Lastly, the original box is complete with all internal and external flaps, no tape but has the all-to-frequent and common Madison Hardware aging and moisture staining that was typical on many of their inventory from their New York location. Overall, a gorgeous freight car that does not often surface for sale in this condition.
