Up for sale is a New Old Stock # 6464-450 Great Northern box car from 1966! This brand new, never used freight car was part of a collection of trains where a significant number of items were purchased from Madison Hardware's days in Michigan in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. For this freight car, there is no documentation indicating it came from Madison Hardware, however the external condition is consistent with many of the items sold out of the Michigan location; the item is unrun, brand new, all components are in pristine condition plus the box has the customary moisture staining on the exterior like so many other Madison Hardware boxes.
The exterior colors on this box car are vibrant while the side lettering, graphics and decals are in perfect condition. Additionally, all metal components on this one-year-only variation with AAR trucks are factory fresh, free of rust and oxidation and the wheels show no signs of ever being on the track. There are no nicks, chips nor damage on the body and the body shows no signs of handling. Overall, a truly gorgeous freight car.
Lastly, the original box is included with this box car. Like many Madison Hardware boxes, this Cellophane Front Panel box has all flaps on one end, but the opposite end is missing the end flap and one inner flap. Additionally, the box does have the customary moisture staining on the exterior from the NYC location.
