Now available for sale is a unique maroon Lehigh Valley hopper from 1948. This hopper is the earlier variation with staple-end trucks, vibrant exterior colors and clean and complete side lettering and graphics. Additionally, the body is complete, not damaged and there are very few marks or blemishes on the exterior. Lastly, the trucks, couplers and truck mounting plates are clean and free of rust and oxidation. However one of the gems of this hopper is the body mold color. As seen in the 6th and 7th photo above, the body has a gold or copper colored shell -- which is highly unusual for the 6456 hopper!
Additionally, the original box is the one-year-only variation from 1948 -- the Three Cities Early Classic design. The box is a bit soft, but does have both end and tuck flaps, but is missing several interior flaps.
