Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 6456-75 Lehigh Valley hopper with the red enamal exterior and yellow lettering!
This rare, one-year-only red enamal hopper with yellow lettering was only manufactured for a single year: 1954. According to the prior owner, this was purchased from Madison Hardware dating back to the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. However, there is no paperwork supporting this history, although the external condition is consistent with many items sold from the Michigan location; unrun, but having light or minor surface marks from storage and moving.
This particular hopper has a gorgeous red exterior with crisp and vibrant yellow lettering. As seen in the photos above, there are some minor surface marks from handling and storage throughout the years. Additionally, the truck support brackets, trucks, couplers and wheels are clean and free of rust and oxidation plus the wheels show no signs of ever being on the track. Overall, a gorgeous freight car that does not often surface for sale in this condition.
