Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 6346 Alcoa Covered Quad Hopper from 1956!
Up for sale is a brand new, never used Lionel 6346 Alcoa Covered Quad hopper that was purchased from a collection where a significant number of items were purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. For this particular freight car, there is no documentation indicating it came from Madison Hardware, however the external condition is consistent with many of the items sold out of the Michigan location; the item is unrun, missing its original box and has a couple of very minor surface marks from storage and/or moving.
This one-year-only hopper looks fabulous with a pristine external silver color as well as bright, crisp and complete side lettering and graphics. There is no damage to the body, the catwalk ends are complete and not chipped nor damaged and all 12 hatch covers open and close properly. Lastly, the frame, wheels and trucks are free of rust and oxidation and the wheels show no signs of ever being on the track.
