Up for sale is a New Old Stock # 6062 New York Central gondola from Lionel's final year of postwar production: 1969!
Here's a New York Central gondola with three cable reels that is brand new, unsold inventory which was reportedly purchased from Madison Hardware dating back to the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York to Michigan. This freight car has never been on the track and the wheel are truly unrun. The exterior colors are clean, the side lettering is crisp and complete plus all three cable reels are original postwar components and free of nicks and chips (note: the first two photos above appear as though the black sides are washed out -- which is not the case -- it's most likely due to the camera reflection). Lastly, the gondola has the 1969 characteristics of a single functional coupler and a non-functional coupler. Here's your opportunity to own a brand new gondola, which would make a wonderful display item for your collection!
