Now available for sale is one of the rarest postwar freight cars -- the 3666 Minuteman Cannon Firing box car! The one-year-only and uncatalogued freight car was only manufactured in 1964 and included in the Allstate (Sears) outfit # 9820. This nice and clean freight car is complete, not damaged and includes two modern Lionel cannon shells as well as original postwar instructions (correctly dated 1964).
Additionally, the box car shell has only slight hint of aging or yellowing on the exterior -- which is common with many of the plastic bodies from the 1960's. The two medium blue roof sections are correctly numbered 3665-12 and 3665-13 and are free of any cracks, damage or flaws. The metal parts including the firing mechanism appear factory fresh with only the slightest signs of usage. Lastly, the car has been tested and works perfectly -- just as designed by Lionel -- which is also unusual as many of these missile or cannon firing freight cars have rubber diaphragms that are either dry rot or aged past the point of proper usage. Overall, a rare freight car that is nice and clean and will look great in someone's display case.
