Now available for sale is a gorgeous, all-original 342 Culvert Pipe Loader. This accessory -- along with its companion 345 Culvert Pipe Unloader -- were the final all new large postwar accessories designed by Lionel that performed the full unloading and loading cycle with a single freight car.
This particular loader is extremely clean, complete and undamaged. The colors are vibrant and the side building lettering is crisp and complete. There are no nicks, chips nor marks on the accessory and certainly nothing broken. The crane has been tested and although it glides back and forth along the top rail as designed by Lionel, it is not picking up the culverts properly (there is nothing broken on the cam to pick up the culverts, simply needs more TLC to get to perfect operation). The freight car is clean, complete, free of rust and oxidation and includes seven original postwar culverts.
Lastly, a gorgeous, solid and complete original box dated 1957 on the bottom is included as well as both original inserts. Additionally, the original instructions are included as well as a # 90C controller and seven original postwar culverts.
Note: as mentioned above, this accessory is functional, but also temperamental and finicky as it is not picking up the culverts -- and the cam to lift the culverts appears complete and not damaged. You'll need patience in setting it up as well as continued fine tuning over time for proper operation.
