Now available for sale is a beautiful and all-original black Sunoco single dome tank car from the mid-1940's. This tank car has the following features:
- This variation of the 2855 is the hardest variation to locate as it has the following two characteristics:
- A black painted tank body versus the more common gray variation.
- Additionally, the Sunoco decal has the words Gas and Oil incorporated into the decal versus the more common variation without the Gas and Oil lettering on the decal.
- Externally, the tank car body is straight, not dented nor dinged and has clean black paint.
- There is no rust nor oxidation on the staple-end trucks, tank car body nor coil couplers.
- The frame is clean, not damaged and relatively straight with very minor warping.
- The original Art Deco box is in decent condition and includes the original insert. The insert is clean, solid and free of staining and tears. The box is clean, solid but missing two inner flaps and each of the existing end flaps has a few apologies. Overall, a respectable looking box that is difficult to locate in any condition.
