Now available for sale is a gorgeous set of green pullman cars from the late 1940's -- along with their original boxes and inserts. The first section below summarizes each passenger car while the second section highlights their boxes and inserts:
- Each passenger car has vibrant exterior colors along with clean and crisp side lettering although there is some minor paint rubs along a few of the high points on the exterior.
- There are no nicks nor marks on the exterior and certainly nothing chipped nor cracked.
- The interior of each passenger car is as clean as the exterior.
- All trucks, couplers and base plates are clean and free of rust and oxidation and function properly.
- There is no rust nor oxidation on any component.
- All lights do illuminate properly.
- All window inserts are complete and appear to be original postwar components. However, the 2400 Maplewood inserts are more see-though versus the other passenger cars, yet they are still yellowed and aged. It's possible this is a replacement insert that was added many, many years ago, or simply an original insert that has held up in better condition versus the other passenger cars.
Finally, clean and attractive original boxes and inserts are also included for the passenger cars, below is a summary of the boxes:
- All boxes are the correct Early Classic / Three Cities variety.
- Each passenger car has their correct 1948 labelled inspection tag.
- Five of the six end flaps are present on all boxes. However, the 2401 box is missing one end flap and one tuck flap. Additionally, there is no tape on the interior nor exterior of any flap. Condition of the 2400 and 2402 boxes are an 8+, the 2401 is a 6.
- All three inserts are solid, free of tears and there is no tape on the inserts.
- Interestingly, each of the five end flaps has the number zero rubber stamped onto the end flap. Not sure of the meaning of this stamping, but it can be seen in the 1st, 11th and 12th photos above.
