Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 2024 Chesapeake & Ohio Alco A diesel from 1969!
Up for sale is brand new, never used Lionel Alco diesel that was purchased from a collection where a significant number of items were purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. For this particular diesel, there is no documentation indicating it came from Madison Hardware, however the external condition is consistent with many of the items sold out of the Michigan location; the item is unrun, having a couple of very minor surface marks from storage and/or moving.
This particular one-year-only diesel is famous for being the final Alco manufactured by the original Lionel Corporation. The external condition on this locomotive is gorgeous with pristine external colors as well as bright, crisp and complete side lettering and graphics. There are no nicks, chips nor damage to the shell and the frame is clean and free of rust and oxidation. Lastly, the diesel has been tested and does operate properly, the front apron is complete and not cracked nor repaired and all wheels show no signs of ever being on the track.
