Up for sale is a well-used Union Pacific Alco A diesel wearing the traditional yellow and gray UP colors. This non-powered unit is well used, but could be the foundation for a future project or simply parts. The exterior of the diesel has decent colors and surprisingly nice lettering, but there is simply a lot of stuff and gunk on the exterior plus it has the traditional whale hump on the top of the shell due to age. The front decal is in decent condition and the number boards are original postwar number boards.
The interior light has been tested and does operate properly. The front coupler has been bench tested tested and does work, but to operate properly on the track the slide shoe needs to be replaced in the rear truck (it has become dislodged and lost in the prior years). Lastly the rear of the shell has a 1/4" crack along each corner -- as seen in the 9th & 10th photo above.
