Product Overview

 Condition:  8          Original Box:  8+          Year:  1951

Here's a gorgeous, all-original K-4 Pacific five car steam freight set. This 1951 set has been well cared for over the years and shows minimal signs of usage. The set includes many extras generally missing from boxed sets. As you review the 30+ photos, you'll notice all of the items have correct 1951 manufacturing characteristics as well as properly dated instruction sheets.

Regarding the condition of the freight cars, steamer and tender, everything is clean, complete, free of rust and oxidation and graded at an 8 or better! The exterior paint on each train is vibrant, the side lettering is crisp and the numbers and graphics are clean and complete. The only item with a minor paint flake is on the rear of the caboose. Lastly, all boxes are the correct Middle Classic version (correct for this set) and the original boxes are a gem, easily graded in the area of an 8 to a 9!

All of the trains in this set have been cleaned, tested, serviced and the steamer runs like a champ plus the tender whistle is loud and strong! Included in this set are the following:

  • 2035 Pacific steam locomotive with 6466W tender. Both items are beautiful, graded an 8 and their original boxes are solid -- plus they both include the original inserts.
  • 3464 Santa Fe operating box car: no exterior nicks, marks nor blemishes, graded an 8 with a rock solid original box.
  • 3472 Operating Milk Car: condition 8, no damage, vibrant white exterior -- plus a clean and solid original box and insert. Although not pictured, the original milk cans are included in the small, separate milk can box.
  • 6462 New York Central gondola: no exterior nicks, marks nor blemishes, graded an 8 with a decent original box that is missing both tuck flaps. Original postwar barrels are also included.
  • 6465 Sunoco Tank Car: condition 8, no significant exterior marks, free or rust and oxidation. Includes a complete original box.
  • 6357 Lionel Caboose: condition 7++, no damage, includes a nice and complete original box.
  • 1033 90-Watt Transformer: condition 8, tested and fully functional, has a new line cord but missing the original box.
  • 6019 Remote Control Track: condition 7++, has the original, brittle cord -- that will need to be replaced if used. Includes a nice and clean original box.
  • Paperwork: 1951 operators manual, complete set of 1951 billboards, instructions for the following are included: 1033 transformer, 2035 steam locomotive, 3472 milk car and 3464 operating box car. Additionally, instructions for the 6019 uncoupling track are also included.
  • Set Box: Set box is beautiful, graded an 8 to 8+! There are no missing flaps and it is free of writing, stains and issues on the exterior.
  • As for the items missing in the set:
    • The original 027 track is missing, except for the 6019 track.
    • Original box for the 1033 transformer
