Here's a gorgeous, near-new, Monon mail delivery box car that was manufactured by Lionel for only a single year: 1981. This somewhat hard-to-find freight car is modeled off of the popular postwar 3494-550 Monon box car from the late 1950's. Externally, this box car has gorgeous colors with crisp, clean and complete side lettering and graphics. Additionally, the die-cast sprung metal trucks and frame are clean and free of rust and oxidation. Overall, a beautiful box car that is not often available for sale in high grade collector condition.
Also included with the freight car is the original box. The box is complete with all interior and exterior flaps, but there are some tears on the box. Lastly, the front cellophane window is complete, but partly unglued along the bottom edge of the box.
