Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 6823 Flatcar w/ IRBM Missiles from 1960!
Now available for sale is a gorgeous and brand new 6823 Flatcar w/ IRBM Missiles. According to the prior owner, this flatcar was purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. However, there is no paperwork supporting this history, although the external condition is consistent with many items sold from the Michigan location; unrun, and in fantastic condition.
This freight car has a factory fresh exterior with vibrant colors, gorgeous side lettering and two original postwar rockets. The freight car is the harder-to-find variation with a cherry-red colored flatcar (versus the more common lighter red flatcar). The freight car is in perfect condition with nothing nicked, chipped nor damaged plus the trucks, coupler and wheels are free of rust and oxidation and show no signs of ever being on the track. Additionally, both elastic tie-down bands are original postwar bands, but each have lost their elasticity due to their age. Finally, one of the original rockets has a small crack in the side plastic -- most likely due to age (see the 6th photo above for a closer view). Overall, a gorgeous Space & Military freight car that does not often surface for sale in this condition.
