Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 68 Executive Inspection Car manufactured in the late 1950's!
This popular 68 Executive Inspection car was available from Lionel between 1958 and 1961. Although it's a bit hard-to-find, in today's market, locating a new, unrun car is near-impossible. According to the prior owner, this motorized unit was purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. However, there is no paperwork supporting this history, although the external condition is consistent with many items sold from the Michigan location; unrun, and in fantastic condition with only very minor surface marks.
Externally, this unit has vibrant colors with a complete, undamaged body including the front and rear chrome bumpers Internally, the unit is as clean as the exterior plus there is no rust nor oxidation on any of the components. The top control does properly move the e-unit lever, the e-unit does cycle properly, however the unit only runs in reverse. Due to the nature of this unit being brand new and unrun item, the e-unit has not been removed, replaced nor serviced as the new owner will most likely display this unit and not run it (might just a simply contact cleaning, but could be more extensive). Lastly, the interior lights do operate properly.
Lastly the only apology on the unit is some minor chrome loss on the top e-unit knob. Otherwise, there are no exterior nicks, marks nor blemishes, it looks gorgeous, and this factory-fresh Inspection Car is looking for a proud display case to move to in the near future.
