Up for sale is a New Old Stock # 6654T non-whistling tender from 1948!
This tender is brand new, unsold inventory purchased from Madison Hardware during the 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York to Michigan. As most people know, their inventory included quite a few items that were brand new and obtained directly from Lionel during the classic postwar years. The 6654T non-whistling Lionel Lines tender was only available with the 1655 steam locomotive and produced only for the Canadian market, which had different electric requirements compared to the United States and the traditional whistling tenders would not work in Canada.
For this tender, the exterior shell, frame and trucks are spotless and the wheels have never been on the track. The side lettering is as clean, crisp and complete as the day it was manufactured 70 years ago. Also included is the extremely rare 6654W box overstamped with 6654T. The box is as solid as a brick and includes the original insert!
