Now available for sale is a New Old Stock 645 Union Pacific NW-2 Diesel Switcher!
Here's a brand new, never used and somewhat rare Union Pacific diesel switcher -- with a pair of factory errors on the shell. This one-year-only diesel from 1969 has pristine exterior colors with perfect side lettering and graphics -- on one side. The factory errors are; first, the opposite side of the shell is void of all printing and graphics, truly rare and secondly the interior is missing the ballast weight mounted to the shell on all 645's. Looking back, this could simply be a case of Lionel trying to sell anything lying around in 1969 as they were discontinuing train production in that year.
For this switcher, the frame, trucks and couplers are in new and unused condition plus the wheels have never been on the track. Lastly, the diesel has been bench tested and all functionality operates as designed by Lionel. This is truly a gorgeous locomotive that is free of nicks, chips and blemishes and is near impossible to locate in new condition.
