Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 6413 Mercury Capsule Carrying car from 1962!
This brand new, never used freight car was purchased from a collection where there were a significant number of items purchased from Madison Hardware dating back to the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. For this particular freight car, there is no documentation indicating it came from Madison Hardware, however the external condition is consistent with many of the items sold out of the Michigan location; the item is unrun, but does have light or very minor surface marks from storage and/or moving.
This particular freight car is in gorgeous condition. The external colors are vibrant and bright, the side lettering is pristine and there is no damage to the freight car. Additionally, both trucks and couplers are complete and the wheels show no signs of ever being on the track. Lastly, the elastic bands are original postwar bands and the Mercury Capsules do have the correct stamping of "1" molded on the base of one capsule and there is a "2" molded on the base of the second capsule. Overall, a gorgeous Mercury Capsule freight car that is generally found in well used condition.
