Up for sale is a gorgeous, all-original 623 Santa Fe diesel switcher from 1952. This switcher is the earlier, less common variation having ten stanchions securing the hand railing to the cab. The locomotive has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and runs nice and smooth. There is no damage to the body nor frame, all functionality works just as designed by Lionel 75 years ago and the entire unit is free of rust and oxidation. The only blemish on the diesel is the front simulated plastic antenna is slightly bent -- as seen in the 5th photo above. Lastly, the exterior colors are vibrant, the side lettering is crisp and clean plus both side decals are complete and fully intact.
Also included with this road switcher is its original box, insert and instructions. The OPS Stamped box is solid, has all internal and external flaps but there is tape on the interior of several flaps. The original insert is complete, solid and free of tears. Also included are original instuctions, but they are a bit aged and have tape along one edge. The instructions are dated September 1952.
