Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 6119-25 D. L. & W. Work Caboose from 1956!
This one-year-only Delaware, Lackawanna & Western work caboose was manufactured by Lionel in 1956 and is extremely difficult to locate these days in collector condition. According to the prior owner, this caboose was purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. However, there is no paperwork supporting this history, although the external condition is consistent with many items sold from the Michigan location; unrun, and in fantastic condition.
This work caboose has a factory fresh exterior with vibrant colors, gorgeous side lettering and graphics and best of all, no paint flaking by the footsteps! As seen in the photos above, the caboose is pristine with no nicks, chips nor cracks and the rear roof overhang is complete with no signs of any stress cracks. Lastly, the trucks, coupler and wheels are free of rust and oxidation. Overall, a gorgeous caboose that does not often surface for sale in this condition.
