Up for sale is a nice and clean New York Central gondola from Lionel's first year of postwar production: 1959. This freight car has vibrant exterior colors with clean and crisp white heat-stamped lettering and graphics. Additionally, there are three original, undamaged dark orange cable reels included with the gondola. Below is a summary of the features & manufacturing details:
- Glossy black body
- White lettering
- N.Y.C. overscored, "6062" underscored and includes "NEW 2-49" lettering
- 6462-2 mold
- Early AAR trucks with closed journals and two complete and funcational disc couplers
- Three dark orange cable reels
The original box looks decent, but has some issues. The front perforated panel is 100% attached and includes the often missing thunb slot cover. Additionally, both original end flaps are included as well as two of the inner flaps are present and still attached. Otherwise, both tuck flaps are from other boxes (one is labelled 3419) and two other inner flaps are now attached to the box. Lastly, most flaps have tape on the interior.
