Up for sale is brand new, never used caboose that was purchased from a collection where a significant number of items were purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. For this particular caboose, there is no documentation indicating it came from Madison Hardware, however the external condition is consistent with many of the items sold out of the Michigan location; the item is unrun, missing its original box and simply in stunning condition.
This one-year-only Santa Fe caboose is in gorgeous condition with pristine external colors as well as bright, crisp and complete side lettering and graphics. There is no damage to the caboose plus both end railings are in new condition and free of any paint flaking. Additionally, both trucks and the single coupler are complete and the wheels show no signs of ever being on the track. If you're looking for a gorgeous caboose that looks as clean and vibrant as the day it was manufactured nearly 65 years ago, this might be the item for you.
