Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 59 Minuteman Switcher manufactured in 1962!
This popular Minuteman switcher was available from Lionel in 1962 and 1963. Being hard-to-find in today's market, locating a new, un-run unit is near-impossible. According to the prior owner, this motorized unit was purchased from Madison Hardware in the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. However, there is no paperwork supporting this history, although the external condition is consistent with many items sold from the Michigan location; un-run, and in fantastic condition with only very minor surface marks.
Externally, this unit is complete, undamaged, free of nicks, chips and cracks but does have the typical aging within the plastic shell. Externally, the colors are nice while the side lettering, graphics and decals are beautiful. Internally, the unit is as clean as the exterior plus there is no rust nor oxidation on the base, wheels nor end railings but there are a couple of tiny oxidation spots on the base of the side railings. Lastly, the e-unit does cycle properly and the motor runs nice and smooth.
