Up for sale is a very early production (mid-1949) cattle car and corral that was purchased from the son of the original owner. The gem of this gentleman's collection is this never used, totally new cattle car and corral -- with all of the original peripherals! As seen in the photos above, there is no evidence of use or ever having been installed on a layout or even track installed into the base. Additionally, the wheels on the cattle car are unused and also in Mint condition! Below is a summary of the components:
- Early production corral with orange gates and original black chain by the side ramp
- Early version of the cattle with the raised rim along the perimeter of the base
- Early and correct instructions dated September 1949 -- also showing the raised rim on the base of the cattle
- Complete component envelope with new 027 and O gauge contactors, original coiled wires and complete 364C controller
- Early version of the cattle car with the Armour sticker on each side door
- Solid and complete Middle Classic boxes for both the cattle and cattle car -- which include all internal and external flaps. Each of these boxes are graded around an 8.
- The larger Middle Classic box for the entire accessory is a bit worn and missing two inner flaps, but all other exterior flaps are present, overall condition is about a 6 to 6+
- Original Lionel wrapping paper for the side coral ramp
Oddly, the date of Oct 25 1949 is ink stamped on the exterior box as well as the bottom base of the coral (see the 8th and 14th photos above). The assumption is the date is associated with the original purchase or date received -- but there is nothing documented around this date.
Note: The assumption is the eventual buyer will display this rare, brand new accessory and not operate it on a layout. However, the base and car have both been tested independantly and work properly. If you plan to set up and operate both items in conjunction with each other, most likely there will be time needed to adjust and/or tinker with getting all components to work in conjunction with each other.
