Here's a clean, all-original 3454 Operating Merchandise box car along with many add-ons that are generally not included with this freight car. This merchandise car has recently been cleaned, serviced, tested and is ready to operate on your layout. All components are original postwar items and this would make an excellent addition to anyone collection or layout.
Externally, there are a few very light scratches or surface marks on one side of the roof (as seen in one of the photos above), however the rest of the car sides and ends are easily in condition 7 -- or better! The silver paint is vibrant and the side lettering and graphics are complete. The frame and trucks are clean and free of rust and oxidation plus this freight car has the visible hinge pin on one end dating it to a 1947 production item.
Included with this freight car are all of the following items:
- Complete, undamaged silver-painted body and silver painted doors
- Nice, complete blue heat stamped lettering
- Hinge pin for the roof hatch is visible on one end
- Metal brake wheel with all four corner metal steps still attached
- Car numbered "3454"on left, "X3454" on right and PRR logo with technical data on right
- Staple-end trucks with the correct coil couplers
- Instructions # 3454-47 and dated 5-47
- Factory Inspection Slip on white paper
- Six original black postwar hard plastic cubes marked "BABY RUTH" that resemble merchandise containers
- Solid original box with all internal and external flaps -- but there is clear tape on most interior flaps
- Original brown corrugated insert
- Complete and original # 160 dump bin
