Now available for sale is the rare all-orange 2454 Pennsylvania box car from 1945. This one-year-only freight car was only manufactured in the early part of the 1945 production run and is a tale of good and bad news. Externally, one side and most of the roof is in condition 7 to 7+. However, the opposite side has some paint loss on the lower left side -- as if a chemical substance was spilt onto the box car and the paint was removed from the shell. Otherwise, the external colors are nice and clean, the side lettering and graphics are crisp plus the base, trucks, flying shoe components are all complete, free of rust and oxidation and the coupler do work properly.
Also included with the freight car is its original overstamped box. As seen in the photos above, the box is in poor condition with most flaps missing and is simply a sleeve to protect the freight car at this point in time.
