Now available for sale is a New Old Stock # 2436 Summit Observation Passenger Car from 1954!
This passenger car is a brand new, unsold passenger car that reportedly was purchased from Madison Hardware dating back to the early 1990's when their inventory was moved from New York City to Michigan. Unfortunately, there is no paperwork supporting this history -- although the box and general appearance of the passenger car makes that a very plausible explanation regarding its condition.
Details of the passenger car are the following:
- The passenger car is the earlier variation with the Summit road name.
- All wheels, couplers and center rail pick-up are all unrun and truly in Mint condition.
- The external silver is factory fresh -- it looks like it was manufactured yesterday!
- The original inspection tag -- light blue in color and correct for 1954 production -- was found in the vestibule end -- as shown in the 6th photo above.
- The box is complete with all internal and eternal flaps -- although there is some shelf wear and discoloration on the exterior (common to many Madison Hardware boxes).
- The correct early variation of Lionel wrapping paper is included with this passenger car.
