Now available for sale is the very hard-to-find 1945 version of the 224 Prairie steam locomotive with its 2466W whistling tender. Both the steam locomotive and tender both have blackened handrails -- indicating 1945 production -- plus the tender has the correct flying shoe trucks from 1945. The steam locomotive and whistling tender have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operate perfectly plus the e-unit cycles properly, the front headlight does illuminate and the tender whistle is loud and strong. The exterior colors are extremely vibrant, the side lettering is crisp and clean and the drive rods are original parts. Lastly, the tender shell is an original shell with silver lettering and the flying shoe trucks are complete and undamaged!
Lastly, there are nice and solid original boxes for both units. The steamer box has both end and tuck flaps with minimal clear tape on the interior flaps -- plus it includes the original insert! Additionally, the tender box is nice and square, has both end and tuck flaps as well as all interior flaps and there is some clear tape on the interior of a few flaps. Lastly, the tender insert is a reproduction insert and both boxes have minimal shelf wear on the exterior.
