Up for sale is a nice, clean and hard-to-find gray Dreyfuss steam locomotive with a whistling tender. The gray variation of the Dreyfuss locomotive is a one-year-only version from 1946 and is the only postwar die-cast steam locomotive to be manufactured in a color other than black.
Both the steam locomotive and tender both have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operate perfectly. The e-unit cycles properly, the front headlight does illuminate, the motor runs nice and smooth plus the whistle is loud and strong. The exterior colors are vibrant, the side decals on the tender are in great condition and there's not a spot of rust or oxidation on either item.
The only apologies on these units are some very minor paint flaking on the front cowcatcher of the steamer plus the front of the tender has a fair amount of paint loss at the top (see the 3rd photo above for this detail). Lastly, the drive rods are original parts and free of discoloration or aging plus the trucks and couplers are clean and fully functional.
Finally, original boxes, inserts and instructions are also included. The instructions are correctly stamped 221 and in reasonable condition. The boxes and inserts are also in decent condition and although there are some appologies on both boxes, they are in far better condition than most 221 boxes these days.
