Now available for sale is a clean Missouri Pacific Alco A power unit diesel -- there is no trailer unit available for this locomotive. This one-year-only and uncatalogued diesel is somewhat hard to find these days and this particular shell has has vibrant exterior colors along with perfect side lettering and graphics. Internally, the diesel has been tested and all functionality works perfectly -- just as designed by Lionel nearly 70 years ago.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of issues with this Alco diesel. The first is a crack on the roof by the simulated horn. A close up of the crack is seen in the 9th photo above. Additionally, several of the small simulated brake shoes on the plastic side frames of the trucks are broken off and missing. However, even with these apologies, the diesel would make a decent operator grade locomotive on any layout.
