Now available for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, near-new Santa Fe Alco A diesel that have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operates flawlessly! This diesel was purchased from the original owner who received promotional set # 19172 for his birthday in late 1962 -- and included in set # 19172 was only a single A unit for the 218 Santa Fe diesel, it was not an AA nor AB unit.
Externally, the colors are vibrant and unblemished, the silver paint looks like it was painted yesterday while the lettering and decals are near-new. The only apology on the unit is a hairline crack on the front apron and some minor paint loss on the top of the apron where the coupler would rub against the paint. Internally, all wiring is factory original and untouched -- truely a time capsule back to 1962! The motor has been cleaned and serviced and runs like a gem, the e-unit cycles properly, the horn is functional and the hearlight does illuminate.
Also included is a solid and complete original box and instructions for the power unit. The box has all internal and external flaps and the instructions are correctly numbered 218. If you're looking for a gorgeous and somewhat uncommon single A Santa Fe power unit, this would be an excellent choice.
