Now available for sale is a gorgeous, all-original K-4 Pacific steamer with the 6466W whistling tender as produced in (probably) 1951. Both the steamer and tender have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operate perfectly. All functionality on the steamer works properly including the e-unit, headlight and the smoke unit. Additionally, the tender frame and trucks are free of rust, as is the steamer. The whistle in the tender is loud and strong, there is no rust nor damage to either unit and the boiler front on the 2035 is an original item! Both of these items are in fantastic condition and easily worth being in a display case.
Lastly, original Middle Classic boxes and original inserts are included for the steamer and tender. Both the steamer and tender box has all internal and external flaps, but there is tape on the interior of several flaps -- plus one end flap of the steamer box is tapes one in the upside down position. Condition of the tender box is an 8+ to a 9 and the locomotive box is graded at a 7. Finally, original instructions, an original smoke pellet tamper and a full bottle of postwar smoke pellets are included -- as well as a postwar tube of lubricant.
Note: although this is not a documented variation, there are a handful of 2035 steam locomotives missing all window struts. This particular locomotive never had the window inserts installed by Lionel as all support posts have factory paint over the posts. Additionally, this locomotive was purchased from the original owner located in New Jersey.
