Here's an absolutely gorgeous, near-new Rock Island Alco A powered unit. This low mileage diesel has stunning exterior colors, wonderful side lettering and decals and there's certainly no rust nor oxidation on the interior or exterior. The diesel has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and runs like a champ -- and obviously all functionality works as designed by Lionel 70 years ago. Lastly, the shell is the early variation without the raised dimple on the roof plus it has the blackened rivets in the front and rear (used to secure the interior mounting bracket).
