The set was purchased from the original owner who used is occasionally at Christmas time, but has been packed away for the past three decades.

As for the set, below is a summary of the outfit:

  • 2349 Northern Pacific GP-9 Diesel: Simply put, this diesel looks gorgeous!. The exterior colors are vibrant, the side lettering and graphics are crisp and complete plus the frame is clean and free of rust and oxidation. Additionally, the diesel has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operates just as designed by Lionel 60+ years ago. The condition of the diesel is easily an 8 to 8+. As for the original box and sleeve, both are stunning and graded a 9!
  • 3540 Radar Scanner Car: This freight car is in beautiful condition and graded an 8. The exterior  colors are vibrant, the side lettering is crisp and complete and there are no nicks, chips nor damage to either the flatcar nor the original load. Lastly, the car has been tested and does operate properly plus the original box and instruction are nice, clean and solid, easily graded an 8 to 8+.
  • 6470 Exploding Box Car: This box car is complete and all interior tabs are attached and not repaired nor damaged. The exterior colors are vibrant and the exterior lettering is crisp and complete. The exterior colors look great and the caboose is free of nicks, chips, rust and oxidation. The particular freight car has the worst box of the lot and only graded a 6 as the front panel is missing. However, the original instructions are nice and graded at an 8.
  • Set Box # 2549: The set box is solid, has nice coloring and includes all interior and exterior flaps. There is some minor exterior color missing from original tape being removed, but you can still see the set number on the end of the box.
  • Paperwork: Lastly, additional original paperwork is included for the set to assemble the Super-O track
  • Track: This set was originally sold with enough Super O track to make a figure 8 layout. All of these track sections are included and in nice condition -- and even include the original track pins.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to purchase a clean, fully serviced and ready to run Lionel outfit that is exactly how it was purchased back in 1960. This is a stunning original set and can easily be the centerpiece of your collection.
