Product Description

Condition:  7          Original Box:  Var          Year:  1952

Up for sale is the most popular postwar passenger car set ever produced by Lionel -- the classic Super Speedliner four car passenger set from 1952! This nice, boxed set has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and works just as designed by Lionel. The exterior colors are clean, the passenger cars are complete and not dinged nor dented and all interior lights operate properly. Lastly, there is no rust nor oxidation on any of the components.

As for the locomotives, each diesel has original paint, the silver is vibrant and the red and yellow strips are crisp and complete. Even the side decals are in great condition. It should be noted, the front decal on each diesel has been replaced, however the rest of the diesels are all original postwar locomotives. The exterior shells are nice and clean and there is nothing nicked, chipped nor damaged on the F3's. The e-unit cycles correctly, the horn is functional, the interior light works properly and both sets of magne-traction trucks are clean and complete. Overall, a really nice and clean set of classic Santa Fe F-3 locomotives.

The passenger cars are all from 1952 as each cars has the light wires soldered directly to the trucks -- indicating 1952 production. Even the side name plates are all secured in the same manner, it's not a mixed set of passenger cars. As for the original boxes, they are in mediocre condition as each has clear tape on the boxes and just appear worn or tired. One end flap on the 2531 box is a homemade end flap. Overall, the boxes are far nicer than you usually find for these passenger cars, but they are not perfect.

Lastly, the original set box has some tears by the corners and simply appears worn. However, it is complete with all interior and exterior flaps. There is even original paperwork included with the set such as Operating Instructions for the 2343, a 1952 / 1953 Lionel Service Station Listing and the 1952 How To Operate Lionel Trains Manual, which is complete and not missing any pages.

Don't miss out on being able to purchase one of the most classic Lionel sets every produced -- the Santa Fe Super Speedliner!
