Now available for sale is the somewhat rare early production version of the 1666 Prairie steam locomotive with its 2466WX whistling tender with blackened handrails. The steamer and tender both have blackened handrails plus the tender has coil couplers -- generally indicating early 1946 production. Additionally, the steam locomotive and whistling tender have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, tested and operate perfectly. The e-unit cycles properly, the front headlight does illuminate and the tender whistle is loud and strong, although the sliding shoe trucks are tempermental going through switches. The exterior colors are extremely vibrant, the side lettering is crisp and clean and the drive rods are original parts. Lastly, the tender shell is an original shell.
The only apology on this set is the front of the tender (below the oval opening, see photo 3) has a 1" hairline crack in the shell (the crack is so minor, it is difficult to get a good photo of the crack). The steamer is gorgeous and graded at an 8 to 8+, absolutely beautiful! Excluding the hairline crack on the tender shell, it too is in condition 8!
