Condition: 9 Original Box: 8 Year: 1965
Up for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, near-new and somewhat rare Scout steamer and whistling tender from the mid-1960's. Both of these units have been fully cleaned, serviced, tested and all functionality operates perfectly. The smoke unit puffs like a chimney, the two-position e-unit cycles properly and the tender's whistle is solid and loud. There is no damage, nicks nor marks on either item and certainly no rust nor oxidation. The tender does appear to have some run time on the wheels, however the steamer appears to have almost no usage marks on the wheels!
Also included are solid and nice original boxes -- each being just as hard-to-find as the original items themselves. There is some very minor pricing information written on the steamer box -- probably when originally purchased back in the 1960's.
Lastly, the 239 is noteworthy as it is one of the very few Scout locomotives produced by Lionel in the 1960's with:
- A full die-cast steam locomotive body
- Green jewel marker lights
- Illuminated headlight with a headlight lens
