Condition: 8 Original Box: N/A Year: 1955
Up for sale is a gorgeous, one-year-only, hard-to-find green five-stripe Pennsylvania GG-1 -- produced only in 1955! This locomotive has been completely cleaned, serviced, tested and runs like a champ! All functionality operates just as designed by Lionel. The exterior colors are vibrant, the Pennsylvania keystone decals are nice and complete and the five side stripes are in nice condition and show no signs of fading nor handling in the center section. Obviously the frame, trucks and interior are clean and free of rust and oxidation plus the pantographs are original postwar components. It will be hard to find a nicer 2340 green GG-1.
The original box is complete, solid and includes all interior and exterior flaps. Additionally, the original insert is as solid as the original box. Lastly, this GG-1 includes it's original Ray-O-Vac battery as sold by Lionel in 1955!
An interesting note regarding this GG-1: the original box still has the mailing label from noted gun maker EDW. K. Tryon in Philadelphia to Emanuels 5 & 10 cent store in Chester PA.
