2153WS Turbine Four Car Freight Set (7+/OB)

Product Description

 Condition:  7+           Original Box:  6          Year:  1949

Up for sale is the top-of-the-line turbine freight set from 1949. This premium work train outfit contained three freight cars, each being a fun or playful car for any child or dad. Looking back at the set now, it is odd a work train was paired up with a high-speed turbine locomotive -- but in 1949, any person receiving this set would be amazed at the quality and detail of each train.

As for the condition of the trains, each item is at least in condition 7+, with a couple of items close to an 8! The trains have all been cleaned, serviced, tested and work perfectly. The turbine has a functional light, operating three-position e-unit plus a smoke unit that works great. The whistle in the tender sounds loud and strong. Finally, all of the exterior colors, lettering and graphics are in great condition and there is no rust nor oxidation on any of the components.

As for the boxes, some are decent, others are a little rough. Some end flaps are missing, but all inserts are present and original. The set box is in respectable condition, but there is some minor exterior printing missing from tape being removed from the sides.

Lastly, the set does include original instructions (all properly dated for this set) and six of the original eight billboards as well as an operators manual. The UCS track is complete, rewired and fully operational. The O gauge track has all of the straight track present, but only two of the original eight curved track.

don't miss out on this opportunity to own one of the premier 1949 train sets as offered by Lionel. This set has all trains in fantastic condition and many extras as originally offered by Lionel.
