Condition: 8 Original Box: 9 Year: 1954
Up for sale is the only 027 gauge steam passenger set offered by Lionel in 1954. This gorgeous Hudson passenger set includes three red-lettered silver passenger cars -- each having interior illumination and operating couplers. Looking back at this set now, it is a perfect rendition of a typical passenger train of that era seen in any small town American suburb.
As for the condition of this set, each item is in beautiful condition and graded at an 8, although the steamer might be closer to a 7+. The silver on the passenger cars is clean, vibrant and shows no sign of fading nor handling. All of the trains have all been cleaned, serviced, tested and work perfectly. The Hudson has a functional light, operating three-position e-unit plus a smoke unit that works great. The whistle in the tender sounds loud and strong. Finally, all of the exterior colors, lettering and graphics are in great condition and there is no rust nor oxidation on any of the components.
As for the boxes, they too compliment the condition of the trains. Each box is complete and has all end and tuck flaps. Additionally, the steamer and tender have their inserts. The passenger car boxes are stulling, each complete with all interior and coupler flaps. Even the outfit box is clean, solid and compliments the trains.
Lastly, this set includes many of the extras usually missing from complete boxed sets. These extas include the following:
- Complete set of 027 curve and straight track, including the 6019 uncoupling track
- 1033 90-watt transformer, including its original box
