Condition: NOS Original Box: 8 Year: 1954
Here's a New Old Stock # 1122 set of Remote Control 027 Gauge Switches from 1954!
These 027 gauge switches are brand new, unsold inventory from a small electronic / appliance store in the Somerville area of NJ which sold Lionel trains during the 1950's & 1960's. Unfortunately the inventory has sat in an attic for for over 50 years and the external box is not perfect -- but the internal components are truly new and unused.
The switches have been tested and operate properly. Externally, what you see is exactly as the switches were packed by a Lionel employee at their factory back in 1954. These switches are unique and can either be displayed in a collectable case or used on your layout. If used on a layout, they will need a quick cleaning, lubrication and new wire added to the controller (which can be done for no charge prior to shipping -- if that is your intention).
Both the instruction sheet and box are dated 1954 and the packing envelop has never been opened! The one switch with pins at the single track end includes the small cardboard insert / protector needed for shipping and even the inspection tag is included under a center rail. Lastly, the rails show aging due to storage -- but can easily be cleaned up. Finally, the original box is in nice condition on 5 of the 6 sides, the 6th side has some aging on a portion of the side (as seen in a photo above).
If you're looking for an interesting Lionel item with an unusual background -- this could be the perfect addition to your collection.
